Mikesell recently delivered this incredible new body of work that inspired us to present this December exhibition. A departure from the animal-human hybrids of her "Guardians" series, she explores instead a strictly human cast of characters in a rich, dark, otherworldly circus. Mikesell's ability to render faces and figures and her understanding of light and shadow shine from the lush, velvet surfaces of these new works. Mysterious and provocative, this is a dramatic change in direction for Mikesell and a must-see for followers of her work.
