Irene Kung & Desert Montessori School Benefit
June 6 – 14, One Week Only
Opening Reception: Friday, June 6, 5-7pm
Santa Fe, NM – Chiaroscuro Contemporary Art presents seven new large scale photos by Swiss photographer Irene Kung alongside a special fundraiser event for Santa Fe Desert Montessori School, featuring kiln-formed glass plates made at Bullseye Glass Santa Fe Resource Center.
Irene Kung’s “Tree Series” continues to develop and change. This recent group of tree portraits expands on from her well known images of olive and oak trees from Italy. The new work includes digitally altered photographs of willows, mulberry, gingko and magnolia trees. By adjusting contrast and background tones the images are transformed into abstractions of the tree with hyper-realistic details. This exhibition, featuring the full group of all-new trees, will be on view briefly in Chiaroscuro’s main space, and individual pieces will continue to be on view throughout the season.
To benefit Desert Montessori School’s scholarship fund, Chiaroscuro is pleased to present, in conjunction with Bullseye Glass, Glass for Good, which includes dozens of donated kiln-formed glass plates for sale. All proceeds go directly to Desert Montessori for this one week exhibition. Bullseye Glass Resource Center, Santa Fe, has been extremely generous by making available studio instruction, materials, and kiln-firings for participating artists and non-artists alike who are donating the plates for sale. Come see all the possibilities and creative inspirations from this diverse group and donate to the Desert Montessori scholarship fund.
