About Jack R. Slentz
Jack R. Slentz, born November 26th, 1963 in Oklahoma City, began his art career late in life. He received his Master of Arts degree in Sculpture and Ceramics at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock in 1996 and his Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture at the University of Memphis. Initially a ceramicist, he later began to make sculpture using bronze and wood, and then exclusively wood. Recently he has been working in wood, glass, rubber, steel, aluminum, and concrete.
By 1997 his work had found its way into a number of private collections. A year later, he was asked to do a commissioned piece for the Renwick Gallery of the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institute. Since then, his art has been added to museum collections including the Long Beach Museum of Art in Long Beach, CA, the Museum of Art and Design, New York, NY, and Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven, CT.
