About the Artist

From a young age I had artistic inclinations. A vivid imagination combined with constant drawing activity occasionally landed me in trouble for "defacing" surfaces that presented themselves. Many years of art history later, I am equally enamored of minimalist design and the roadside attraction.

I develop forms that are accessible, yet enigmatic. The shapes I explore exist somewhere in the realm between organic and the man made. My hope is that a piece will evoke a mood or sensation in the viewer. I want to encourage a sensory response, then ideally, some intellectual responses will follow. I try to start the story and let the viewer finish it. I am a big believer in the power of mystery.

Most pieces I make have layers of color and texture, possibly revealing a history of use, or neglect and abandonment. I like to find beauty in the idiosyncratic detail.
